INTEJ win the thriller

16 February 2020 – SBPI Jempol (INTEJ) become the champion of the rugby MSS Negeri Sembilan U18. They won the title as they overcame SM Sains Tuanku Ja’afar in the final.

Both INTEJ and STJ fulfilled the pre-match expectation with as they played their best game in that 60 minutes final. They repeat the same performance as STJ overcame SDAR in the first quarter-final before INTEJ got better of the host, SMK KGV in the other semi-final clash.

INTEJ was the first to make the breakthrough as they scored the first try of the match as well as collected an additional 2 points from the conversion. STJ levelled the match just before the half time as both teams went to the break dead-lock at 7 – 7.

The Jempol base school regain the lead as their best player in the match, Amir Mustaqim Ismail’s intelligent solo run saw him breakthrough STJ line to score INTEJ second try of the game. He added 2 more points from the conversion. Amir Mustaqim contributed 12 points in the match from a try, 2 conversions and a penalty which saw INTEJ extended the lead.

The last 10 minutes of the match belongs to STJ. They put in as much pressure to INTEJ which rewarded them with their 2nd try in the match. Their late surged almost complete as their forward pack made it to the 5 meters line but INTEJ hold firm as the referee blew the final whistle.

SBPI Jempol won the MSS Negeri Sembilan U18 as they overcame SMS Tuanku Ja’afar 17 – 12 in the final.

INTEJ head coach, Mr. Mazrul share his happiness. “Thanks to the Almighty for giving us this victory. Thanks to each and everyone who support especially to the school, teachers, PIBS, parents support group, the old boys, friends and the MSSNS management. I can’t thank the players enough for their effort to achieve all this.”

The earlier match saw the host, SMK King George V overcame another boarding school, Sekolah Dato’ Abdul Razak for the third spot. MRSM Kuala Klawang got their hand on the Plate as they overcame KV Port Dickson in the Plate Division.

18 schools from all over Negeri Sembilan took part in the tournament which took place at the Georgian Green and IPG Kampus Raja Melewar, Seremban.
