9 February 2020 – Malay College Kuala Kangsar secured all the 3 points in the opening match of the 2020 Malaysia Super School Rugby 15s in Alor Setar. The school travelled more than 200km to beat Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid 19 – 7.
The final score of the match did not resemble how tight the opening match is. Both teams had their chance to win the game but MCKK took full advantage of their experience in the game to beat the newcomer.
Hakimi Rosli broke the deadlock with the first try of the tournament this season with Adneen Ramli completed the conversion for MCKK to lead the match 7 – 0 until the half-time. A good move from the line-up saw KSAH hit back in at the start of the second half through Abrar Jasni with Fahmi Izuddin great conversion from the far-side tied the game at 7 – 7.
Shabil Hakeem restored MCKK lead to 12 – 7. A mistake by KSAH scrumhalf right in front of the MCKK goal post proved to be the turning point of the match which saw Najmi Farhan scored MCKK 3rd try in the game. Aizad Ramlan sealed the deal for MCKK as he converted the easiest conversion of the game for MCKK to beat KSAH 19 – 7.
Both teams will have another match to play in Pool C as MCKK will travel to Kuala Lumpur to face SM Sains Selangor (SMSS) while KSAH will welcome SMSS later in March.
