X-Rugby in Kluang

11 January 2020 – SK Tunku Mahmood 1 of Kluang, Johor is set to organise the first X-rugby format tournament in 2020. It is a brand new format, created with the idea of creating a safer contact rugby for the age group categories.

32 primary schools are set to play in 2 different categories, Under 11 and Under 9. The majority of the schools are from Johor with SK Bukit Beruang is set to fly Malacca flag while Negeri Sembilan will be represent by SK Lavender Height. SK Taman Rinting 1, SK Bandar Easter and SK Taman Impian Emas are the teams to look for in this tournament as they are expected to challenge for the title.

The teams will be playing for YB En. Muhammad Said bin Jonit’s Cup. He is the Assemblyman for Mahkota.

The tournament came at the right time with the rumour suggesting that the X-rugby format is set to replace the current Rimau Rugby format in the MSSM Under 12 tournament in 2021. This will be a good introduction for the school as they have a year to prepare for the new rule.

The 2 days event will take place at the SK Batu 3, Kluang. View the match schedules and table standing for the tournament below.
