1 December 2019 – 3 officials from Malaysia Rugby will also be flying to Clark, Philippines this week. They will be on duty for the 2019 SEA Games which will take place on the 7th and 8th December 2019.
Malaysia Rugby vice President, Mohamad Fahmy Abdul Jalil will be the tournament match commissioner. The president of NS Wanderers appointment to the regional tournament is not a surprise as he has done a wonderful job especially when Malaysia hosted Asia Rugby Championship matches.
The other 2 officials are referee. Jefri Mustafa and Nik Mohd Ramadhan will be the match officials on duty.
Jefri was the referee for the final match of Agong Cup weeks back. He earned his Level 3 of World Rugby Match Officials 15s earlier this year while for 7s, Jefri is on level 2. He started his journey as the referee back in 2014. He was also a player with the MCKK alumni started playing rugby back in 2000. He played for his school from 2000 to 2004 before the flyhalf progressed to senior level and played for Negeri Sembilan and NS Wanderers from 2006 until 2013. Jefri is a Licensed Aircraft Engineer for Malindo Air.
Nik Ramadhan need no introduction in our local rugby scene. Nik is a teacher at SK Taming Jaya. The World Rugby Level 2 Match Official holder started his career as rugby referee 17 years back. His first duty was for MSSM U12 back in 2007 before he made his debut on senior level during NLCC match between NS Wanderers and DBKL. Nik already appeared on Regional level as he blew the Asia Rugby Under 19 Division 2 Final match between Sri Lanka and Taiwan in Colombo back in 2012. Nik was also on duty 2 years back during the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games where was the referee for the Bronze Medal match between Malaysia and Philippines. Just like Jefri, Nik was also a player in his prime where he played for STAROBA Orange.. He played in the MSS Johor Under 18 back in 1997 and 1998. In 2002, Nik played for Selangor in the National 7s.
