7s set for Olympic Qualifiers

19 November 2019 – Malaysia 7s team will be heading to Incheon, South Korea this 21st November 2019. The team is set to take part in the Asia Rugby 7s Olympic Qualifiers.

9 teams are set to take part. Malaysia is in Pool A alongside tournament favourite, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei. China, Philippines and Singapore are in Pool B while Pool C consists of Sri Lanka, South Korea and Afghanistan.

The 12 players set to represent Malaysia are:

  4. Wan Izzuddin bin Ismail

  7. Mohamad Nasharuddin bin Ismail 
  8. Mohamad Sofian bin Mohd Kamil 
  9. Muhammad Azizul Hakim bin Che Oon 
  10. Muhammad Hezry bin Muhammad Anis 
  11. Muhamad Firdaus bin Tarmizi
  12. Joseph Gordon

Malaysia 7s – the winner of Asia Rugby 7s Trophy

‘We are aiming to finish in the top 4″, shared the head coach, Saizul Hafifi. He will also use this chance to select the 12 players to represent Malaysia in the 2019 Philippines SEA Games. “The 4 players that failed to make the team in this tournament are actually on recovery process from injury. They still have chance to travel to Philippines”, added Saizul when he was asked about the selection.

Malaysia 7s is under the management of Dr Ahmad Naim bin Ismail.
