15 November 2019 – It will be another milestone for rugby in Malaysia as Malaysia Valke team is set to compete in the 2020 Global Rapid Rugby. The team will be the combination of the Valke Rugby from Johannesburg, South Africa as well as players from Malaysia.
Malaysia has already sent two players to play in an exhibition match with the team as Malaysia Valke had faced Western Force back in August this year. The number is set to increase in 2020 as the deal will see 5 Malaysians to play with the team. There’s no news on who will have the chance to play but Samuel Rentap and Badrul Muktee are the two name expected to be in the team, having played for Valke in Perth before.
6 teams are set to compete with Malaysia Valke is set to open the campaign against the mighty Western Force in the round 1. All the team will be playing in 10 rounds as they will face one another in home and away format. The top two in the league will have one final show down, as the Grand Final is being scheduled to take place on the first week in June 2020.
Other than Malaysia Valke and Western Force, the championship will be joined by Team Asia, Fijian Latui, Manuma Samoa and South China Tigers.
