Sains Selangor and Sri Mersing shared the crown

13 November 2019 – SM Sains Selanor and SMK Sri Mersing brought home a title each in the Lions – Bengals Rugby 10s Championship. The tournament was organised by Bengals Rugby Club in collaboration with UiTM Lions Rugby. It was two episodes of duel between SM Sains Selangor and SMK Sri Mersing in the final as the two teams collided to determine the winner in the Under 14 and Under 16 category.

SM Sains Selangor won the first final. They scored 2 tries to beat SMK Sri Mersing 14 – 0 in the Under 14 category. SMK Sri Mersing got the immediate revenge as their senior squad got better of SM Sains Selangor in the Under 16. They put 4 tries passed Sains Selangor to win the Under 16 with 26 – 0 scoreline.

Both champions had their tougher match in earlier knockout round. SM Sains Selangor won their quarter-final duel by drop kick as they overcame SM Sains Hulu Selangor after the match tied at 0 – 0 after the full time.

SMK Sri Mersing overcame SM Sains Hulu Selangor in the semi-final for the Under 16 category by a late try and successful conversion. They won the semi-final with 7 – 5 scoreline.

To make things sweeter, SMK Sri Mersing brought home another 3 individuals trophy with them winning best player and best forward in Under 16 as well as Under 14 best forward. SMSS backline was certainly on form when they won both Under 14 and Under 16 backline award.
