7 August 2019 – Two national players, Badrul Muktee and Samuel Rentap departed to Perth this morning as the two is set to join Malaysia Valke team. They will be playing in a match for the team against Western Force in the Global Rapid Rugby Exhibition match.
Malaysia Rugby Union president, Dato’ Shahrul Zaman bin Yahya was present at the KLIA this morning as the duo set off to Australia.
Malaysia Valke will have 10% players from Malaysia while the remaining will be from the South African Valke Club from Johannesburg, South Africa. In a statement release by MRU, this is the first step as the expect the percentage to increase to 20% in the 2020 Global Rapid Rugby.
Badrul and Samuel are two out of 5 names suggested to join the team by Malaysia 15s head coach, Brad Mika. However, only the two will join in the exhibition match this time around.
Badrul was ever present for Malaysia in the 2019 Asia Rugby Championship Premier. He started as winger in all 4 ARC matches. Samuel is one of a new face for the national team, starting whenever he is fit to play in the ARC.
Malaysia Valke is set to play Western Force on 9th August 2019. The match will start at 4.30pm Australia time. It will take place at the HBF Park.
