Malaysia chances to improve World Ranking

3 May 2019 – It has been confirmed that Malaysia second test match against Sri Lanka will involve the World Rugby ranking points.

Malaysia currently sits at the 48th rank, the 5th in Asia while Sri Lanka is 5 spots above Malaysia. The Tuskers is currently rank 43, the 4th rank team in Asia. Both teams are way behind Japan (11), Hong Kong (25) and South Korea (30).

Malaysia has a very good chance to improve on the current ranking with other teams rank above the Hibiscus such as Morocco, Sweden and Croatia do not have any match at the moment. The only way to climb higher is by beating Sri Lanka in the match.

Malaysia won the first test match against Singapore Select last April. They dispatched the opponents 33 – 24 in the match that took place at the Queenstown Active Stadium. Sri Lanka opened the Malaysia tour with a positive result as they dismantled Malaysia Barbarians 51 – 14 last Thursday.
