11 February 2019 – Malaysia 7s captain, Zulkiflee Azmi’s future with the national team remains unknown as he reports on duty for the Inspector Cadet Training. He reports in at The Malaysian Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) in Kuala Lumpur
Better known as Jukiey among the rugby community, he finally has to report in after he delayed it for a year due to his commitment in rugby. Jukiey played for Malaysia in the Commonwealth Games in Australia as well as in Asia Games in Jakarta where he helped Malaysia to finish 5th in 2018.
Jukiey is still hoping that he can be part of Malaysia team especially when they compete in the 2019 Philippines SEA Games. “It’s up to the management now on how this is going to be. I will be ready if I receive the call-up.”
His decision to accept the offer and join the training was expected. He is now a husband and they are expecting to have a baby really soon. It’s his time to secure his future.
At 27, he still have a lot to offer. He is the most senior player in the team. His experience is the most valuable aspect with Asia Sevens Series, Commonwealth, Asia Games as well as SEA games in his disposal.
Malaysia 7s team will continue their training in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) as they prepare for Asia Rugby 7s Trophy and SEA Games. Jukiey, on the other hand, will be on a different kind of training at PULAPOL until November this year.
