728 made it to GIR Arau

1 February 2019 – In conjunction with the upcoming Arau 7s, Get Into Rugby Malaysia has successfully organised GIR for participants from all over Perlis. It received full support from Arau Vocational College which is also organising the Arau 7s on Saturday and Sunday.

728 participants from 5 schools took part in the program. From that, 200 of them are female. 38 teachers also made their way to the event as the trainer with 48 players from SSTMI, MRSM Kuala Terengganu, as well as the host, Arau Vocational College, help to make it a successful event.

This is the first time such program and tournament is being held in Perlis by the Get into Rugby team from Malaysia Rugby Union.

Get Into Rugby director, Raimi Yusof leads the program alongside Farid Rahman as the Get Into Rugby Coordinator. Raimi shared “The program materialised because of effort as well as hard work from teachers especially those from the Arau Vocational College under the management of Mr Hairul Nizam. We are certainly hoping to see more involvement in rugby from students in Perlis.

The GIR Arau 7s will start on Saturday for the group stage. 64 teams from all over Malaysia is set to take part in 3 different categories. To make it more interesting, 16 teams will compete in the Under 19 Girl category.
