25 January 2019 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) had a relatively easy first day in Taiwan. They are currently competing in the 6 teams invitational 7s tournament as part of their mobility program.
UPM remained unbeaten on the first day with 3 wins out of 3. Their toughest test came in the first match. They got better over Kyung Hee University with 28 – 19 scoreline.
The other two matches saw UPM overcame their opponent on strolled. Liu Hsin HS unable to match UPM as they went down 0 – 31. UPM last match on the first day was the easiest, as they trashed Rep of China Military Academy with 41 – 0 scoreline.
UPM team manager, Mr Muhammad Zyuraidi B. Abdul Majid believe the two matches on the second day will decide the final standing. “Chang Jun Christian University (CJCU) and National Taiwan University of Sports are two strong teams. They are the two teams to beat. The host also has players who play for their national team in the Asia Rugby 7s Series.”
The CJCU Invitational 7s is being played in the league format. All 6 competing teams will play each other with the winner will be decided base on their final league standing.
