Webb Ellis Cup set to tour Malaysia

14 January 2019 – Malaysia Rugby Union has confirmed the tentative for the Webb Ellis Cup tour in Malaysia. The 3 days tour will see the Cup displaying in 5 different locations.

It will start on 19th January. It will be display in a program with Duli Yang Maha Mulia Yang Dipertuan Agong. There is no info about the location but the event will start at 8.00pm.

Young rugby players, parents, as well as teachers who will compete in the MILO-NRDP Rugby Carnival, will have the chance to look at the cup closely on the second day of the tournament. It will be at SM Sains Selangor, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

The last day of the tour will see the trophy at 3 different location. There will be two photo session as the first one will take place at the KLCC Twin Tower from 9.30 to 11.00. It will be followed by the second photo session at the Putrajaya Square, beginning at 2.00 until 3.30pm.

Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, Putrajaya will be the last location for the tour. The cup will be there for an hour from 4.30 until 5.30 in conjunction with the World Rugby (GIR) Kit Drop event.

Malaysia will be the second South East Asia nation for the cup to tour after it was being displayed in Philippines, July 2018. This will be part of the program to promote the upcoming 2019 Rugby World Cup Japan, the first ever rugby world cup to take place in Asia.
