Dingoes dazzle to the title.

16 July 2018 – FRC Dingoes became the first ever winner in the very first edition of KRS 7s Ladies. The 2018 edition tournament took place at the Astake Field MBPJ, Petaling Jaya.

13 teams took to the field out of 14 registered with Singapore senior team pulled out in the last minute due to unknown reason. Dingoes topped the group B after two days of outstanding 7s rugby display. They scored a total of whopping 32 tries and only let a single try to Cobra Venom in all 6 group matches. They scored maximum points with 6 wins out of 6.

Dingoes opponent in the final, the SUKMA Sabah showed that they are the team to beat in the upcoming 2018 SUKMA Perak. 5 win in 5 matches with clean sheets in all group matches showed their dominance. This young team recorded their biggest win in the opening group match as they put Johor Senior team to bed with 31 – 0 win. Sabah scored at least 3 tries in the group stage.

KRS Ladies 7s

It was all to play for in the final with young Sabah squad strike first. 15 years old Mary Theresa Paul Thevaraj scored the opening try as Sabah lead 5 – 0. Azreen Azli levelled the score with Dingoes first try before the lead for the first time through Maslina Ahmad Ismail. Malaysia Under 17 captain, Shania Baduk tied the game with Sabah second try as both teams tied at 10 each during the half-time.

The experience was certainly the key factor as Dingoes took control in the second half. Dingoes retake the lead through Dayang Manggie’s try with the additional 2 points from resulting conversion. Maslina Ahmad Ismail second try in the final match made sure Dingoes out of reach. FRC Dingoes lift the KRS 7s Ladies title with 22 – 10 win over SUKMA Sabah.

To make it sweeter, FRC Dingoes claimed the title as they are celebrating their 10th year anniversary as the club. Dingoes was formed back in 2008, as the pioneer in women tackle team. Their first tournament in 2008 was the Jonah Jones 7s.

4 players from the very first squad are still in the team for the 2018 KRS 7s Ladies. Liyana Kamarul Bahrin, 26 joined the team as 16 years old teen back in 2008 alongside Mona Tiara Izaniah, Aki Loh Nong Sim and the experience 42 years old Lim Chin Wei who is still running strong with the team.
