SKTIE Rhino win the Invitational

9 July 2018 – The tournament host, SK Taman Impian Emas Rhino win the SKTIE Invitational Rugby 10s Under 12. The tournament was held as part of the one day SKTIE Entourpournership Carnival which took place last Saturday.

8 schools were divided into two groups of four in which the top two advance to the cup final. The competing school consist of 7 schools from Johor Baharu including the host as well as SK Tunku Mahmood 1 from Kluang.

The Rhino cruised into the semi-final with 3 dominant wins in all group matches. They scored 106 points without reply. In the semi-final, SK Taman Damai Jaya broke the Rhino line twice but that unable to stop them from advancing to the final. Rhino won 24 – 10.

SK Taman Perling Eagles also had the 100% record in the group matches. They had a much tougher group match as they edge SK Taman Damai Jaya by a single point to top Pool B. They scored 5 tries in the semi-final as they demolished SK Bandar Baru Uda 2 37 – 0 to meet Rhino in the final.

Both teams were lucky as they had the chance to meet Datuk Osman Sapian who spends his time to watch part of the final match.

It was Eagles who strike first as Fariez Irfan Nor Abdul Aziz scored the first try in the final match. The Rhino captain, Muhammad Nazim Khan bin Muhammad Nizam Khan brought the joy to the tournament host as he scored two tries for the Rhino to beat the Eagle 10 – 5.

SKTIE head coach who is also the Johor Under 12 MSSM Team Manager, Mohd Fahmi Bahrin is delight to lift the cup. “I would like to thank other teams who accepted the invitation, came and compete with the rugby value and spirit. Alhamdulillah and thanks to the support from the administration, teachers as well as parents for this competition and to the rugby team in general.”
