3 July 2018 – SK Kota Masai from Pasir Gudang, Johor lift the Under 11 NRDP SMSS 7s title. They overcame another team from Pasir Gudang SK Permas Jaya 3 in the final.
Kota Masai came into the final as the heavy favourite as the team did not let the opponent have a single point in the group stage. They cruised with victories over SK Meru, SK Seremban 2 as well as over SK Pulau Indah in the quarter-final. SK Lavender Height was the toughest opponent for Masai with the team from Pasir Gudang came on top, 10 – 5 in the semi-final.
Permas Jaya 3 started the first day with a bang as they slaughtered SK Wangsa Maju Zon R10 51 – 0 in the first match. They win Pool D win 10 – 0 win over Methodist ACS Klang. Permas Jaya won the semi-final by a single try over Sri Manjung before they through to the final with 22 – 5 over SK Paya Rumput from Melaka.
SK Kota Masai has Rifqi Iskandar Zailani to thank to as he scored two tries in the final. The opening tries for Kota Masai was scored by Muhammad Akmal Asmawi. SK Kota Masai beat SK Permas Jaya 3, 17 – 7 in the final.
Rifqi Iskandar who was also part of Johor Under 12 team who won MSSM in Pahang earlier this year, receive the best player award.
SK Kota Masai head coach, Sharulhizam Mohamad shared that,”We thank Allah for this win. It’s the effort from each and every one of us including the school administration, fellow teachers as well as parents.”
Primary school from Johor showed an impressive performance in this tournament with SK Taman Rinting won the plate while SK LKTP Bukit Batu became the runner-up. SK Parit Latiff of Muar is the Bowl champion as they beat SK Bandar Easter in the final.
