Only 22 players?
18 May 2018 – Only 22 players will be registered for Malaysia in the 3rd match against South Korea. Malaysia suffered the latest casualty as another player unable to play due to injury.
Mohammad Syarif Saiful Azwan Sudin better known as Unta among rugby community, provide another setback to the team. He was supposed to fly on Thursday morning but took the decision not to fly due to injury on his ankle. That injury kept him out of the national team for the 2017 edition and it came back to hunt him.
The team management unable to look for his replacement and they decide to go with only 22 players.
Syarif Saiful Azwan did have two good matches against both South Korea and Hong Kong. He did well when he came on when he help Malaysia to score the first. He also provided 5 points in the first match through a conversion as well via a penalty. He also completed another penalty in the match against Hong Kong. His absence is certainly a blow for the management who already lost a number of key players.
Nathaniel Tan will miss the rest of the campaign due to the broken jaw. Fractured Ankle will also keep Rosmanizam away from the rest of the campaign.
Malaysia is also without the service of Amirul Sani who is reporting for his duty at TUDM. Aporosa Duwailea will not be playing as well as he unable to get the permission from his employer in Fiji. Saki Gavidi did not fly to Korea as well due to the problem on his Passport and visa.
