18 May 2018 – Malaysia 15s team is in Incheon for the 3rd match of the Asia Rugby Championship. They will face South Korea in the 4th match of the tournament on the 19th May 2018.
Malaysia will be hoping to secure the first win of the tournament as the quest to reignite their challenge against another 2 far superior team. Malaysia lost the opening match to South Korea in Bukit Jalil 10 – 35 before Hong Kong proved to be too strong for the national squad as they outclassed Malaysia 67 – 8 in the second match. Hong Kong secured their second win last week as they overcame South Korea 30 – 21.
Malaysia head coach, Lee Nyuk Fah introduce 3 new players for the 23 players squad. They are Muhammad Danial Hamidi, Nas Affie Mohd Salleh, and Hamizan Rosli. The team will also welcome back Amirul Aqil Kamsol who started in the first match against South Korea but missed the Hong Kong match due to the concussion he suffered in the first match.
Malaysia needs to make sure they have the 100% focus against South Korea as the defeat in the first match came from the team inability to settle down. Malaysia is more than capable to compete against Korea if they can produce the same display they had in the second half of the first match.
