Last chance for Gold Coast ticket
17 March 2018 – Malaysia 7s players are playing their last tournament before the upcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Malaysia had a good 2 days in Sandakan so far as they advance to the quarterfinal in 2018 Borneo 7s.
They opened the campaign in Borneo with impressive 21 – 14 win over Belgium Barbarians. Tribe 7s from Australia proved to be a way too much for the national squad as they beat Malaysia 48 – 0. Malaysia secured the second spot in group B when they overcame Tainan Chang Jung RT from Chinese Taipei. They played impressively to beat TCJ RT 36 – 0.
Malaysia 7s run in the Cup was ended by ICONZ. ICONZ speed and physical proved to be the difference as they came out victorious with 40 – 0 scoreline.
Malaysia will be playing in the Plate during the 3rd and last day. Malaysia will either play Sabah Eagles in the Plate Semi-Final. That match will be played at 10.50am. All the matches at the Borneo 7s will be telecast live at Eagles Rugby Club Facebook page.
Malaysia 7s team is in Borneo without their star captain, Zulkiflee Azmi who just got married a week prior to this tournament.

Malaysia is in Pool A during the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Another 3 teams in Pool A are Scotland, South Africa, and Papua New Guinea. The rugby games will be played from 13th to 15th April 2018.
