Red hot host!

24 February 2018 – The tournament host, Malay College Kuala Kangsar is on the right track to reclaim the N J Ryan Cup. They recorded 100% win in the group stage as they strolled in all 3 matches.

MCKK impressive run put them 2nd in the ranking after all 36 group stage matches. The open the campaign with comfortable 24 – 0 win over SMK Abi in the first day. That ignited the host to continue their good performance with 43 – 12 win over Australian International School from Singapore. The 19 – 0 win over Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Jaafar gave them the third win. MCKK will face Sekolah Menengah Sains Hulu Selangor in the Cup/Plate quarter-match.

4 times winner and top-seeded team, Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail met the expectation. They ranked first after 3 group matches. SSTMI recorder 15 tries, the most tries among 24 competing teams as they top the overall ranking. SSTMI overcame SBPI Kubang Pasu 31 – 0 in the first match of the second day. MRSM Kuala Terengganu became the second victim as SSTMI scored 5 more tries to beat them 31 – 7. Another 5 more tries scored by SSTMI in the last group matches. SSTMI overcame SMKA Othman Abdul Wahab 29 – 7. SM Sains Sultan Mahmud will have their biggest test in the tournament as they will take in Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail in the quarter-final.

Another 2 teams who had 100% record in the group match are last year finalist, SMK Seri Mersing, and SM Sains Pokok Sena. Seri Mersing will be hoping to beat SBPI Gombak in the quarter-final if they wish to go one step further in this year edition. SAINA will face Royal Military College in the fourth quarter-final match.

The tournament will be broadcast live on Premier7s.com.my. The third day of the competition will start at 8.30am with the Shield quarter-final match.
