Single point separate Lions and Mongoose
5 February 2018 – JKR Perak will be thinking about this match for a very long time. This is especially after they let their chance to win it slip under their nose as they unable to convert the last conversion.
Both teams played their best game, with the winner of the game will be able to avoid last year champion, RMR Warriors in the semi-final.
Mongoose was in the lead for the first half as they scored two tries through Mohamad Shah Izwan Bin Nordin and Azzhar Bin Zainal. Shah Izwan added 3 more points through penalty as they lead Lions 13 – 5. Lions try was scored by Kamarul Nizam bin Alang Ahmed.
Lions managed to turn the things around as they finally found their rhythm in the second half. Muhammad Zikri bin Mohd Zaini, Onn Fadhli Hasanudin, and Aidid Razak scored one try each as Lions lead Mongoose 24 – 18 with Muqri Dini was also on form with two successful conversions.
Mohamad Ali Hasan Bin Badiozaman scored the third try for Mongoose before Muhammad Zaki Bin Mohd Redzuan try 4 minutes before the final whistle gave the JKR chance to win the game. Ridhwan Sulaiman who was appointed to take the conversion saw his kick was blocked by the opponent.
The match ended with the win for Ipoh Lions 24 – 23 over JKR Perak. It will be a tough semi-final encounter for Mongoose as they will need to produce their top match against RMR Warriors. That match is scheduled to take place on 10 February 2018.
Ipoh Lions will face Edwardian a day later. Both matches will kick off at 4.00pm at Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
