7 November 2017 – Sekolah Alam Shah of Putrajaya won the Super KGV International 10s. They got better of Negeri Sembilan, Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Jaafar in the final of the Under 15 category.
SAS won both group matches on day one with a narrow win over KYS before they trashed TBS 22 – 0 in the last group match. STJ, on the other hand, have to work hard as they drew the 0 – 0 in the first match against SHOAW before they overcame Seksyen 7 Prime 10 – 0.
SAS continue their fine run as they smashed MOZAC 26 – 0 in the last playoff match of the first day. STJ scored a solitary try in their playoff match to defeat SAUJANA 7 – 0.
SEMASHUR gave SAS their biggest test in the quarter-final. SAS scored the first try and qualified to the semi-final as they overcame the Hulu Selangor school based on the first try rule. The score tied at 5 – 5 as the referee blew the final whistle. STJ, on the other hand, overcame SDAR 12 – 0 to book the semi-final spot.
SAS certainly love the first try rule as they overcame SHOAW to book the cup final spot. They drew 5 – 5 in that match. Lady luck was smiling for STJ as they through to the final after they won the coin toss against the tournament host. STJ and KGV tied at 0 – 0 after the final whistle.
Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah performed Haka prior to the start of the final match. That certainly lifted them as they had a much better start compared to STJ. A try in each half, as well as a conversion, sealed the deal for SAS. They were crowned as the Under 15 champion after Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah beat Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Jaafar 12 – 0.
