Negeri Sembilan first to break the deadlock. Their fullback, Danial Azhar Roslan calmly completed the penalty to give NS 3 points lead. Sae Faalupega tied the match in the 25th minutes after he converted the penalty for Police.

Although they played with one man down after Azri Mahmud was yellow carded, Police took the surprise lead. Their effort to get back into the match was fruitful at the end of the first half. Winger, Mohd Amir Shafiq Maddah scored the equalizer try in the 40th minutes. The first half ended in all square, 8 – 8.

The match was pretty much settled on 50th minutes. 2 quick tries in the space of four minutes proved to be the difference between both teams. Police made 5 substitutions in order to keep the team fresh and find way back into the game. They however only managed to add more points with a minute to go before the final whistle. Juhaimi Jasmin who came on with 25 minutes to go scored the consolation try. Sae Faalupega completed 2 more points from the conversions but it was all too late for Police.
