Johor confirmed quarter final spot


9 August 2017 – Johor had confirmed their quarter final spot with victory over Perlis. The match that took place at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Syed Sirajuddin, Arau, Perlis saw total domination by the team from Southern Malaysia.

Johor only needed 5 minutes to break the deadlock. Nissan Attui proved his worth to the team as he opened the try party. He also added Johor second try 7 minutes later. National player, Wan Mohd Asyraf showed that he is one of Johor player to look for as he converted both conversions. Johor lead 14 – 0 in the first 15 minutes.

Prop, Muhammad Arif Azmi as well as Mohd Izwan Abu Bakar put their name on the score sheet as well with Johor third and fourth try before Waqaliva Jone Vucukula added two more tries. Wan Mohd Asyraf converted 2 more conversions as Johor comfortably lead 38 – 0 at the end of the first half.

Johor added 29 more points in the second half. 5 more tries and 3 more conversions made it look an easy match for Johor. Nissan Attui had another try early in the first half. Naturaga Donasiao Ratubuli who came on as the substitution made the immediate impact. He scored two consecutive tries in the space of 10 minutes.

Azihran Zainal who played as flanker added Johor 4th try in the second half. The last try of the match was converted by Mohd Zaiheri Jumardi who had an outstanding match with 4 minutes before the end of time. Johor two second half tries were completed by Amirul Ihsan Abas, and Jahangir Khan. Both came on in the second half substitution.

Johor beat Perlis 67 – 0 and set up the final show down against Kelantan this week. Both team had confirmed their quarter final spot with the win over Perlis. They, however, will be eager to remain unbeaten and finish top of the group and avoid any big team in the quarter final.

Johor will face Kelantan at the Kota Tinggi Mini Stadium on 12 August. That match is schedule to start at 4.00pm.
