Terengganu hanelang to top Group C


6 July 2017 – Terengganu visited Negeri Sembilan to play their second match and completed their group stage matches. It was the home side that put the first point on the board vide a penalty through Mohamed Aiman Fariz. Thereafter the visitors piled up the pressure and were in the driving seats until the final whistle.

Terengganu hits back 5 minutes later through Muhammad Faris Abdillah try in the eight minutes and added 2 more points courtesy of Muhammad Faizal Mat Tahir conversion. Negeri scored another penalty through Aiman Fariz as he converted his second kick as Negeri make it one point game before Faizal Mat Tahir scored his own penalty to extend Terengganu lead to 10 – 6.

Aiman Fariz added another 3 points for the host from his third penalty as Negeri urged to take control of the game. Lacks of concentration from Negeri players let Aliff Sazrie runs all the way from their own half and added Terengganu second try on the 28th minutes. Terengganu lead 15 – 6 in the first half.

It was all Terengganu in the second half as they added 2 more tries, 2 conversions and 2 penalties in the second half. Muhammad Amirul Azamuddin scored Terengganu third try of the game 6th minuted into the second half. Muhammad Faizal Mat Tahir had an outstandig match as he scored the conversions and added 6 more points through two more penalties.

National team player, Mohammad Nurazman Ramli who came on in the second half scored Terengganu fourth try as Negeri played with 14 players when Mohamad Afif Mohamad Norzal yellow carded. Faizal Mat Tahir contibuted 2 more points through the conversions. The score 35 – 9 remained until the end of the match.

It was exciting to note that Terengganu has included DYTM Tengku Muhammad Ismail Ibni Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, as part of their line up. The presence of DYTM Tengku Muhammad Ismail Ibni Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, who played as a flanker for the 1st half of the game, assisted Terengganu to hand the host a royal thrashing of 35-9 scoreline.

With that victory, Terengganu qualified for quarter final as they confirm the top spot of group C.
