Asyraf aims for Final
13 July 2017 – Wan Mohammad Asyraf aims for final in his fifth and last MASUM. The 23 years old is playing for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in his fourth and last year of his degree study.
Asyraf first involvement in MASUM was back in 2013 where Universiti Islam Antarabangsa is the host for that edition. At that time, he played for Universiti Malaya (UM) as he studied at the Pusat Asasi Universiti Malaya (PASUM) at that moment.
Asyraf’s name suddenly becomes an instant hit among Malaysia rugby fans as he managed to fill in the spot left by injured Azmir during the Asia Rugby Championship Division 1. He played well in all three matches for Malaysia and help the national team to win the championship for the second time in a row.
The current national team winger plans to give his all for Pirates this season. He and his team want to do one better than what they did back in 2014. They were runner-up in that edition.
With what he achieved so far, it is possible for him to be one of the key players for any club or team that he plays for. Asyraf shared “I will keep on playing rugby and contribute everything that I have for the sport. I also aim to improve my physical aspect by spending more time in the gym in the future.”
Asyraf is hoping to secure a spot in last year runner-up, Johor for the upcoming Piala Agong. With so many players come to the team selection, he will need to be outstanding to attract the management.
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia will take on Asyraf first MASUM team, Universiti Malaya this evening. The quarter-final match is schedule to start at 4.00pm. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is waiting for the winner in this match in the semi-final.
The other quarter-final will see the 2016 champion, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) will take on Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (IIUM).
