11 July 2017 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) head straight to the semi-final after they finish their group match. Both teams finish at the top of their respective group as they keep their 100% record on the match day 3.
UKM finish their group match with flying colour as they overcome Universiti Teknikal Malaysia (UTeM) in the 9.00am kick-off match. They comfortably won 37 – 7. UKM narrowly beat UTM 20 – 15 on matchday one before they beat UPSI on the second day.
Although they are missing most of their key player due to the exam, UiTM manages to win all the three matches. They make it three out of three as they beat Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) in the match-day three.
UiTM will have to wait for the winner between the Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in the second quarterfinal. Both teams secured their knockout round spot as the group runner-up. UM lost to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in their second match 6 – 57 but qualified as they won their first match. UTM trashed Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris 35 – 0 to book their spot.
Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (IIUM) book their knockout spot as they dominate from the first whistle and beat Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNiMAP) 32 – 5. They will need to play their best rugby and do the almost impossible to beat UPM in the quarter-final. The winner will then face UKM in the semi-final.
Both quarter-final match will take place on Thursday at 4.00pm. There will be no match on Wednesday.
