30 May 2017 – Malaysia 7’s team will continue their preparation for the upcoming South East Asia Games in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highland. The fasting month will not stop their preparation as they choose a high altitude location to have the physical and mental fitness test. They will be there from 30th May until 3rd June 2017
The team just came back from a week tour in Auckland, New Zealand. They went there on 16th and came back on 26th May 2017. The team had their training camp at the Collage Riffles Rugby Club.
Malaysia 7’s comfortably won their one and only friendly match against Auckland International Academy 35 – 10. Their wish to have more matches didn’t materialise as most of the team didn’t allowed their player to play 7’s as New Zealand rugby 15’s season is just around the corner.
The 7’s team will continue their training session in University Putra Malaysia after they come back from Cameron Highland. Then, they will fly and spend another 10 days in Sabah, as they choose another high altitude location for their training. The team will train at Ranau Sports Complex from 12 to 22 June.
The team will have another chance to further test their ability as they will compete in a mini tournament in Hong Kong from 23 – 25 June. Malaysia is aiming to win the Gold for the upcoming SEA in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia won silver in the last edition as the Philippines got better of them in the final.
The women team meanwhile will continue their preparation at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang
