Kolet Boys knocked STAR out


7 May 2017 – Malaysia Airports Chairman’s Challange Trophy – Semi Final 2 STAR vs MCKK.
STAR start the game as favourites due to their standing as the Champions of 2017 Super Six Schools Rugby 15 League. They waste no time by pilling relentless pressure on the visitors, MCKK who finished 3rd in the League. Their efforts are dully rewarded as they score the first 3 points of the game via a penalty.

The host continue to dominate and soon add more points to the scoreboard via a try and a successful conversion, leading the Kolet Boys 10-0. The scoreline serves as a wake up call for the visitors. MCKK Boys up the ante and through series of hard drives by their forward score a try of their own, reducing the deficit to 10-5.

The umpire stop the game briefly due to the thunder and slight shower. The weather does not prevent these 2 teams from producing their best game after the game resume.
Toward the end of the game, the Kolet Boys suffer 2 major setbacks. One of their players is sent off due to a high tackle direct the neck of the opponent. Their woes continue as another player is yellow carded.

The greatest comeback of the tournament then came. At this juncture, STAR lead MCKK 13-12. Despite of their numerical advantage, STAR fail to add to the scoreboard. They rally their troops but MCKK stand firm to absorb anything and everything that come their way.

In the final minutes of the game, the Kolet Boys break trough via their flanker. Evading series of desperate tackles, he go on to score a try to put MCKK in front for the first time in the entire game. 19-13 in favour of MCKK after the successful conversion. The score that sent the visiting Kolet Boys into frenzy and heart breaking moments for the host.
