4 May 2017 – Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR) edged Sekolah Alam Shah to win their fourth Super Six School Rugby Fifteen tittle. Both team tied with 12 points after 5 matches but STAR had the upper hand as they had better points different. STAR won 4 out of 5 matches.
STAR started the 2017 edition with a positive note as they dominated Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor and won the match 27 – 13. STAR continue their domination over Sekolah Datuk Abdul Razak (SDAR) with 10 – 0 win in the second match. They also brought home the Brotherhood Shield, as they remained undefeated to SDAR since the Shield was introduced back in 2013. STAR demolished Sekolah Menengah Sains Hulu Selangor 29 – 3 to earn their 3 win of the season.
STAR only defeated came as a surprise as they lost to Sekolah Alam Shah 10 – 6. That’s the only match where STAR unable to score any try through out the match but still managed to collect points through two penalties. It was the first time STAR lost to SAS through out the competition.
It was everything to play for in STAR last match. They edged Malay Collage Kuala Kangsar by a single point to remain in contention of winning the league with Sekolah Alam Shah remained undefeated after 3 matches with 2 games in hand.
Malay Collage Kuala Kangsar did STAR a favour as they overcame Sekolah Alam Shah in SAS fourth game to re-open the title race. MCKK won that match 22 – 14. SAS needed to win their last match by 36 points to secure the league tittle but they failed to do so against Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor. SAS managed to win the match 12 – 5 which made sure the Super Six tittle went to Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman and remained in Ipoh for the fourth time.
Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman won all the Super Six tittle since it was introduced back in 2013. 2017 is their fourth tittle as there was no tournament in 2015. STAR domination came from a well structured plan lead by Datuk Tamunif Mokhtar who gives full support to the team. Team captain, Muhammad Asyraf Bin Zulkiflee with the help from Mohd Izran bin Wazir and Kamarul Nizam Ahmad are parts of the outstanding players who help STAR to continue their domination in the Super Six.
Malay Collage Kuala Kangsar who finished third will join STAR and SAS in the Malaysia Airport Chairman’s Challenge Trophy 2017. The other team who will join them in the semi final is Victoria Institution who won the Perdana League.
