Perfect Perth prep for Malaysia

25 April 2017 – Malaysia have the perfect preparation for the upcoming Asia Rugby Championship 2017 this coming May. The national 15’s team won both friendly matches against Emerging Force and Palmyra RC in Perth, Australia.

Malaysia had a dominant win against Emerging Force where the team comfortably won it 78 – 17. Emerging Force was formed with players from Division 1 and 2 around Perth. Malaysia had an outstanding first half while in the second half, they received fight back from Emerging Force which forced Malaysia to reduce the open play and used the players’ speed and quick passes to win the game.

In the second friendly match, Malaysia had to come back in the second against Palmyra RC. Palmyra is one of Perth’s Premier Rugby Clubs. They won the Champion Club Award back in 2015. It was a closely contested match where Malaysia won it 28 – 26 in the last minute of the match.

The head coach, Lee Nyuk Fah shared “We able to dictate the opponent game and compete especially in the second half. This match is more relevant to our game as we can apply the game plan with high team spirit and passion to get the result in the last minute.”

The national team will fly back to Malaysia as they will continue their preparation for the upcoming ARC Division 1. They will face United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and Philippines with the prospect of qualifying to 2019 World Cup in Japan if they won the championship.
