UiTM Lions sailed pass Panthers Blowpipes
18 February 2017 – UiTM Lions grabbed their second successive win as they sailed pass Panthers Blowpipes in the first match of Match day six 2017 AirAsia Malaysia Rugby League. Lions recorded their first win last week as they overcome Kelab Sukan DBKL. They continue their good run when they comfortably dispatch Panthers Blowpipes 67 – 17 who is yet to pick up any win in the tournament.
Lions firmly in control through out the match. They ended the first half 36 – 7. Lions draw the first blood in less than a minute of the match, 45 second to be exact as the tournament fastest try through Winger, Ainol Fizy bin Ruslan. Muhammad Zulfikri bin Zul Edwar added two more tries in the first 10 minutes to make it 15 – 0 before flyhalf, Mohamad Sofian bin Mohd Kamil added 2 more points from a conversion. Muhammad Hanafi bin Zaini extend Lions lead to 22 as he also completed a try in the 17th minutes.
Panthers showed a glimpse of what they can do when their Lock, Mohd Redwan bin Mohd Noh score their first try. Mohd Faris Zafran bin Zaid completed the conversion to make it 7 – 22. Lions however managed to stop Blowpipes comeback. Flanker Muhammad Hariz Izzat bin Ahmad Hapez scored a try followed by 9 points from Mohamad Sofian bin Mohd Kamil through a try and two successful conversions.
Lions continue the rout in the second half. They managed to add 5 tries in the second 40 minutes. Muhammad Hanaffi bin Zaini scored 14 of 31 points for Lions through 2 tries and 2 conversions. Ainol Fizy bin Ruslan added his second try in the match while Mohd Syahimi Abd Aziz and Muhammad Danial bin Noor Hamidi also earned a try each.
Panthers Blowpipes added 10 points in the second half. Ahmad Nadzil bin Rizal who came on as a substitute scored from a conversion.
The score after the final whistle is UiTM Lions 67 – 17 Panthers Blowpipes. Panthers Blowpipes who are still winless after 3 matches will face KSDBKL next while UiTM Lions will be aiming for their third victory when they take on SSTMI Tsunami on 25th February 2017.
