4 teams to compete in East Malaysia Division MRL

2 February 2017 – Sandakan Eagles are among the 4 teams that will compete in the 2017 Malaysia Rugby League East Malaysia Division. Eagles suppose to play in MRL Premier Division initially but due to some technical reason, they choose to compete in East Malaysia Division.


Sabah will have their second team in the league as KK Shark confirm their participation as well. The Kota Kinabalu based team is expected to challenge Eagles for the tittle.

Labuan will have one representative as the Labuan Rugby Club will join the competition. Sarawak will have one representative as well as Sibu Division Rugby Union is part of the tournament.

There is no date or location for all the matches will take place but this brand new season of Malaysia Rugby League certainly offer something different for all the rugby fan all over Malaysia.
