Borneo Eagles too strong for the host.

13 November 2016 – Cobra dreams to win their own tournament is stop by the solid performance by the ERC Borneo Eagles in the final match. Both team have an impressive tournament on their way to the final match. Cobra and Eagles had an unbeaten first day where they managed to win comfortably their group matches.

Borneo Eagles start the day with an impressive display to beat Kelab Sukan Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (KSDBKL) 17 – 12 in the second quarter final. On the other hand, Cobra trash another Malaysia team, SSTMI Eagles 24 – 0 in the fourth quarter final.

2 tries give win for the ERC Borneo Eagles in the semi final match. They beat Penguin RFC from England 5 – 0, the team which beat them in the semi final for the 2015 edition. Cobra held their nerves as they beat NNK Nothlink by the slimmest margin in the other semi final. Cobra manage to get better of NNK Northlink 7 – 5.

It is all to play for in the final. Cobra with all the support from the home crowd unable to overcome well drill Borneo Eagles. The team which base in Sandakan, Sabah manage to get the tactics spot on as they race to 19 – 0 in the first half. Eagles continue their domination before the match get abandoned due to heavy rain as the score remains the same 5 minutes to play.

Organizer and both coaches agree to end the match with the score 19 – 0 to the Eagles and crown the Borneo Eagles as the champion for the 46th Cobra Ten’s.
