2 July 2018 – The 1st rank team in the upcoming 2018 SUKMA, Sabah had a 100% run in Singapore. Sabah played 6 friendly matches against Singapore Under 20 team and BUBA.
Sabah is certainly in their own class. They only let 1 try in all 6 matches. Sabah strolled in the first set of the match, winning all 3 matches comfortably. They beat Singapore Under 20 2 (17 – 0), Singapore Under 20 1 (28 – 0) and managed to score 6 try in 32 – 0 demolition over BUBA.
There was no stopping Sabah in the second set as they overcame BUBA and Singapore Under 20 1 (35 – 0). Singapore Under 20 2 was the only team to break Sabah but their solitary was not able to stop Sabah from winning 21 – 5.
This Sabah team is certainly the top contender for Gold in the 2018 SUKMA. The won the Women Under 21 category in the previous NAZA National 7s Series with a good margin. Powered by a number of national as well as the experienced player such as Henrietta David, Eupharasia Anne as well as the upcoming ane exciting Malaysia Under 17 team captain, Shania Baduk, Sabah is certainly the team to beat.
The team is managed by Gerard De Sauza and coach by Noel Phillip and Josephine Joseph.
This team also received special guidance from the newly appointed Malaysia 15s Head Coach, Brad Mika who is also the Sabah Coaching chief.
